Sermon Slide Notes:

Scripture references:

Mark 5:1-20

Colossians 1:21

Ephesians 6:12, 18

1 Peter 5:8-9

Questions to ask ourselves:

Could I have anything in common with this demoniac?

What does the display of Jesus' power and authority mean for us today?

Sins or behaviors that we tend to brush off in our society:

Unforgiveness

Addiction

Intimate relationships out of wedlock

Watching or reading inappropriate content

Gossip

Quotes:

“The fact that “devils” are predominantly comic figures in the modern imagination will help you. If any faint suspicion of your existence begins to arise in his mind, suggest to him a picture of something in red tights, and persuade him that since he cannot believe in that, he therefore can’t believe in you.” ~Screwtape (The Screwtape Letters)

We have to recognize Jesus’ holiness and power before we can confidently ask him to overcome the evil in our lives.
